More than just a burger joint, Mountain Burger is leading a nature-positive charge in Bend’s culinary world by aligning bold flavors with bold climate action.

From the start, Mountain Burger has built its operations on a foundation of environmental responsibility. The team sources ingredients locally and ethically, featuring everything from grass-fed beef to delicious plant-based options, and they even combine the two with their Prius burger! They’ve adopted a comprehensive Climate Action Plan with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions and are already operating on 100% renewable energy through Pacific Power’s Blue Sky program.

Their kitchen operations reflect the same ethos. All food waste is either composted or recycled, used fryer oil is turned into biodiesel, and energy-efficient appliances keep their carbon footprint low. They’re also planning to add carbon-footprint information to their menus, empowering diners to make informed, planet-friendly choices.

Mountain Burger also partners with sustainability-focused vendors and prioritizes education and outreach, making them a natural partner for our collective. Their leadership demonstrates how small businesses can take real climate action while serving up something delicious.
